ATB: SCRAPBOOK OF CHILDHOOD MEMORIES
Paintings, Sculpture, Instalation | 2025 | Klaipėda, Lithuania
“ATB: Scrapbook of Childhood Memories” is a personal art exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Evelina Simanavičiūtė. The title "ATB" stands for "autobiography," reflecting the intimate and introspective nature of the work.
Through a diverse range of media—including painting, sculpture, and installation—Simanavičiūtė reflects on her childhood, drawing inspiration from memories, emotions, and formative experiences. This process leads her into an intuitive mode of creation. Each artwork stands both as an independent artistic expression and as part of a coherent, personal narrative.
Simanavičiūtė approaches her work with openness and a spirit of exploration, selecting techniques and materials that best convey the emotional weight of each piece. Rather than adhering to a single stylistic approach, she employs varied methods that allow the form to emerge organically from the content. In this way, the exhibition unfolds as a cohesive yet multifaceted story, in which the artist not only reexamines her early life but also invites the viewer into a broader reflection on identity, memory, and emotional heritage.
While some works may initially appear childlike or naïve, they are intentionally imbued with a sense of vulnerability and sincerity. This perceived simplicity encourages deeper engagement and invites the discovery of complex emotional layers. The exhibition does not seek to provide definitive answers; rather, it offers a space for inner reflection, prompting viewers to contemplate their own past, the roots of their identity, and the emotions that continue to shape their lives.
"ATB: SCRAPBOOK OF CHILDHOOD MEMORIES" is both a journey of self-discovery and an invitation to shared contemplation. The exhibition poses essential questions: What memories shape us? What fears, experiences, and emotions do we carry into the present? In this personal yet open dialogue, Evelina Simanavičiūtė welcomes the viewer into a shared moment of recognition and introspection.
