ABOUT
Evelina Simanavičiūtė is a multidisciplinary artist born in Vilnius, Lithuania, currently based in Klaipėda. Her practice includes painting, sculpture, drawing, performance, and textile. E. Simanavičiūtė works often appear simple or naive yet carry emotional depth and narrative intent. She explores themes such as personal experience, human relationships, politics, and religion, occasionally combining visual art with writing to create more layered, reflective projects.
Initially working with watercolor and pencil to illustrate stories, E. Simanavičiūtė later transitioned to acrylic painting, which is now her primary medium. She enhances her works with pastels for expressive detail and incorporates ceramics or natural materials like dried grass and wood in more complex pieces. Each project begins with research to determine the most appropriate materials and techniques, ensuring they align with the underlying concept.
Her style is rooted in contemporary art and is defined by a muted, earthy color palette that supports a calm and introspective tone. This subtle visual language contributes to the emotional and thematic resonance of her work, inviting viewers to reflect on both personal and collective experiences.
Evelina Simanavičiūtė is a member of LATGA and has received the status of an artist from the Lithuanian Council for Culture.
