Six-hour participatory performance.

During the performance, I continuously draw a line across a large white canvas using a branch attached to my body. The line functions as a metaphor for a life trajectory: a path shaped by personal decisions, external circumstances, and the influence of others.

Beside the canvas stands a large dice. Each side contains a different instruction affecting my movement or body: cutting a lock of hair, kneeling on peas, walking across pine cones, walking backwards, standing still, or holding my arms extended. Audience members are invited to roll the dice and decide whether the instruction should be carried out.

The work investigates the mechanisms through which people influence one another’s lives. While the structure appears simple, the performance gradually shifts focus from my actions to the audience’s decisions. Participants are repeatedly confronted with a question: how far are they willing to interfere in another person’s trajectory?

The performance premiered outdoors under continuous rain. Water transformed the canvas into an unstable surface where the painted line dissolved, spread, and constantly changed form. Rather than disrupting the work, these conditions reinforced its central inquiry into control, unpredictability, and the limits of individual agency.

Throughout six hours of interaction, the work revealed a recurring tension between decision and consequence. Participants often made choices easily but responded differently when confronted with their material outcomes. In this way, the performance became both a live artwork and a social situation exposing how responsibility is negotiated, displaced, shared, or avoided.
